Cold Stress Prevention

Module Overview

“A cold environment forces the body to work harder to maintain its temperature. Whenever temperatures drop below normal and wind speed increases, heat can leave your body more rapidly.”

In this module, employees will learn the risks associated with working in cold conditions as well as the precautions they can take to remain safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible.

The module also covers what to do if someone has a cold stress injury or illness.

This module follows the Cold Stress Prevention Module, which discusses the effects of the cold on the body.

Some of our employees may be required to work outdoors in cold environments and for extended periods of time, and may be at risk for cold stress. In this module, managers will learn their responsibilities to keep employees safe from cold stress.
